It would be better to physically ship the fake package yourself, but most scammers are overseas so they can't do that, they have to guess millions of tracking of numbers until they find one to the correct city. The scammers in this case couldn't even get that right because it's so hard. You need the origin and destination city/zip to match exactly. It's extremely difficult to get these fake tracking numbers. eBay is very trigger happy, even legit newbie sellers get banned every day, scammers get banned even quicker, that's why the scam is usually from zero feedback accounts because they get banned quick. It's extremely difficult to create a new seller account and not get banned for listing high value items. It's always been very rare, and I don't see it ever gaining in popularity for a few reasons: Is there some handbook on the dark web or something?ĭon't worry, this is a very difficult scam to pull off. I really wonder who teaches people how to be so unscrupulous and screw people over. I have filed an “Item Significantly Not As Described” instead with photos of the envelope and the vacant house it’s addressed to, and eBay assures they can get the funds back. They were intending on me never getting this envelope and filing an “Item Not Received” on eBay, and since eBay just looks at tracking numbers to see if something is received or not when you file a claim, I would’ve been screwed. Went to the post office the next day with tracking number and they told me, “Yeah this was an envelope addressed to a vacant house so we didn’t deliver it, we saved it.” They showed it to me and it had an originating address from Indiana (not Arizona OR Kentucky shown in tracking) and it was addressed to an empty house for sale one street over from mine, to a name that was just two initials, which weren’t mine. By the end of the day, the tracking changed to ‘No Access To Location’ and I thought the postal carrier was just being lazy and marking it that way so they didn’t have to deliver it that day. Waited a couple days then tracking showed it was Out for Delivery in my zip code. The seller was new with zero feedback, but everyone has to start somewhere (….right?) The USPS tracking label originated in AZ, then showed it was “dropped off” at a post office in Kentucky. I bought a used Canon lens with legit original photos for about $50-$100 cheaper than they were going for from other sellers, nothing “too good to be true”. I do both buying and selling on eBay, but just had a fake seller scam me for a camera lens. r/Amazon | /r/AussieFlippers | /r/Barter | /r/BeerMoney | /r/CraigsList | /r/DealsReddit | /r/DiscountedProducts | /r/DumpsterDiving | /r/Ebay | /r/Etsy | /r/FlippingFinds /r/flippingcirclejerk | /r/FlippingInCanada | /r/FlippingUK | /r/Freebies | /r/Frugal | /r/FulfillmentByAmazon | /r/HowMuchWouldYouPay | /r/ScrapMetal | /r/PriceItToSell | /r/ThriftStoreHauls | /r/Thrifty | /r/WhatIsThisThing | /r/WhatsThisWorth | /r/WTFGarageSale | /r/YardSale | /r/upcycling/ u/gigamosh57's Flipping Spreadsheet Template | /u/_imjosh's FitShipper | USPS Calculator | FedEX Calculator | UPS Calculator | Check-A-Flip(Beta) | Search Popular eBay Items | Long-term price tracker | Yard-Sale Locator | Estate Sale Finder | Public Surplus Auctions | Videogame Price Tracker | Reddit Enhancement Suite | eBay Fee Calc | Amazon Fee Calc | PayPal Fee Calc | Fliphawk Craigslist Deals Searcher * Customer Issues, Rants, and General Complaints (Sa)Ī series of redneck wheelings and dealings By /u/vigpounder Online Tools The four simple rules for shipping almost everything If your post can easily fit into any of the weekly threads (below), we'll remove it.īeginner's guide to flipping books with FBA If your post is asking about what to do about an item take-down request or legal notice, we'll remove it.
